HR Industrial Placement Student – Allergan Biologics Ltd

As a member of the Human Resources department at Allergan Biologics Ltd in Liverpool, the HR Industrial Placement Student is responsible for ensuring that an efficient and professional administrative service is provided to both internal and external customers and candidates.

Degree course requirement UNDERGRADUATES studying towards a degree in Human Resources or related discipline.
Salary £15,500
Location Speke Liverpool
Duration 12 Months
Hours of work Monday – Thursday 0830 – 1700 hours and Friday 0830 – 1600 hours
45 minutes unpaid lunch break Monday – Thursday and 30 minutes unpaid lunch break on Friday.
Closing date 6th December 2019
Interview dates Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st January 2020 at Allergan Speke, Liverpool
Start date July 2020

Allergan Biologics Liverpool, UK site is a state-of-the-art development and clinical manufacturing facility and is a Centre of Excellence for Biologics development.  They are responsible for leading all aspects of drug substance development for innovator and biosimilar products throughout their product lifecycle.  To achieve this they characterise their products, develop robust and scalable processes and assess new technologies to ensure that they deliver to effective and safe medicines to their patients. 

Allergan Biologics manufacture clinical material both internally and through a network of external partners.  They work closely with their global R&D colleagues based in Irvine, CA and Westport, Ireland in project teams to deliver high impact biologic products that meet unmet medical need or increase patient accessibility across their therapeutic areas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

General:

  • Maintain candidate and employee confidentiality at all times
  • Track and record staff sickness absence metrics
  • Use of cloud-based HR database, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Work with colleagues to ensure high standard of HR administration, including starters, leavers and maintaining employee files.
  • Ensure invoices from recruitment and training suppliers are processed on time
  • Maintain a personal training record
  • Work within the Company’s Health and Safety policies and practices
  • Any other duties which may be required from time to time

Recruitment Administration:

  • Manage the recruitment administration, arranging interviews and correspondence with candidates as appropriate
  • Maintain all candidates’ records following filing protocols both electronic and manual
  • Liaise with external agencies and consultants to arrange interviews and candidate feedback
  • Assist with advertisement administration
  • Adhere to recruitment campaign plans
  • Record and maintain recruitment data in order that HR statistics/metrics can be provided
  • Requesting references for new hires
  • Ensure that all candidates are legally compliant, i.e. have the right to work in the UK
  • Undertake both electronic and paper filing duties as required including archiving of data
  • Utilise and update the electronic recruitment database
  • Being a friendly and professional first point of contact for the business - you will be an ambassador for the Allergan Biologics brand.

Training Administration:

  • Book and promote training courses internally; invite attendees to courses; book meetings rooms; create attendance lists; distribute course certificates.
  • Ensure the training calendar is up to date and monitor and reply to requests for training.
  • Liaise with external training providers as required
  • Record and maintain training data in order that HR statistics/metrics can be provided

What the incumbent can expect to learn during the 12-month placement:

  • Good understanding of recruitment practices and legislation
  • Good understanding of training coordination
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced HR team

SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English and working towards an undergraduate degree in Human Resources or related discipline.
  • IT skills particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with confidential matters with tact and diplomacy
  • Good telephone manner and customer service skills
  • Organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and work to deadlines/under pressure
  • Willingness to learn and develop in the role
