Environmental Health & Safety Industrial Placement Student - Allergan Biologics Ltd

Develop a clear overview of the running of a biologics manufacturing site and the environmental health and safety considerations required in a growing company.

The successful candidate will be a key team member in a supportive environment, liaising cross-departmentally with staff from QC, QA, Micro, AD, PD, Production, Administration and Engineering.

Hours of work Monday – Thursday 0830 – 1700 hours and Friday 0830 – 1600 hours
45 minutes unpaid lunch break Monday – Thursday and 30 minutes unpaid lunch break on Friday. 
Closing date 6th December 2019
Interview dates Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st January 2020 at Allergan Speke, Liverpool

Allergan Biologics Liverpool, UK site is a state-of-the-art development and clinical manufacturing facility and is a Centre of Excellence for Biologics development.  They are responsible for leading all aspects of drug substance development for innovator and biosimilar products throughout their product lifecycle.  To achieve this they characterise their products, develop robust and scalable processes and assess new technologies to ensure that they deliver to effective and safe medicines to their patients.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop a clear overview of the running of a biologics manufacturing site and the environmental health and safety considerations required in a growing company.

Job Role

  • Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the submission of Monthly Corporate EHS metrics
  • Inputting of safety observations, EHS inspection actions within the CAPA system
  • Chasing departments on due dates of CAPA actions
  • Carrying out EHS Inspection across site
  • Assisting with risk assessments and COSHH assessments across site
  • Updating and reviewing company EHS Policy and associated documentation
  • Offering advice and guidance to the stakeholders on EHS matters
  • Assisting with the development of EHS Training courses
  • Project work on waste management with respect to cost, productivity, segregation and disposal pathways
  • Additionally, depending on performance, the successful applicant may be given responsibilities such as: acting as the first port of call regarding in house EHS queries: attendance of departmental team meetings on waste managements, risk assessment, fire and first aid: and other ad hoc duties.

SKILLS

  • Undergraduate - Environmental Health, Environmental Risk Management degree or similar
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English
  • IT skills particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to be both reactive and proactive
  • Adaptable to changing business demands
  • Ability to deal with confidential matters with tact and diplomacy
  • Organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and work to deadlines/under pressure
  • Willingness to learn and develop in the role
  • Demonstrate some practical project work
  • Have genuine passion for Environmental Health and Safety
